About Cub Scout Pack 513

Who We Are

Pack 513 is a part of the Grand Canyon Council, BSA. Our council operates within the Boy Scouts of America, or BSA, organization as a whole. Our mission aligns with the GCC to instill values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law into the youth within our community.

We are located within Maricopa County, Arizona. Our pack is made up of scouts, who are residents within Glendale, North Phoenix, Peoria, and other nearby areas. Founded in 1972 and operating ever since, we continually strive to bring the opportunities and experiences scouting can bring all across our community. In recent years, we have converted to a family pack. This means that we are coed and welcome everyone with open arms to share in the joys of scouting. Besides, siblings often attend meetings and events anyhow - might as well get them involved in all the fun! Please contact us to learn more about our pack. We'd love to meet you!

Our Chartered Organization

The cornerstone of every scouting program is a chartered organization relationship. A chartered organization can be a place of worship, school, or other community group that has the same interests as the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Cub Scout Pack 513 has our chartered organization as The Maricopa Live Steamers Railroad Heritage Preservation Society, located near 43rd Ave and Pinnacle Peak Rd.

The Maricopa Live Steamers Railroad Heritage Preservation Society is a club of individuals, dedicated to preserving the heritage of railroading. Their club is comprised of members from all over the Phoenix metropolitan area, non-resident members who live outside this 75-mile radius, and even junior members of those younger than 18 years of age, who love locomotives and railroads. MLS also provides free rides to the public on Sundays, so feel free to stop by, say hello, and tell 'em Pack 513 sent you!

Pack Leadership

All of the Pack 513 Leadership Team is comprised of volunteers, who are also parents of scouts within the pack. Outside of each Den and/or Rank having at least one Den Leader, there are other positions within the pack that keep things running smoothly.

Pack Committee positions will typically include a Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Coordinator, Training Chairperson, Outdoor Chairperson, Advancement Coordinator, and other various functional roles. The pack also has what is called a "Key 3" when it comes to leadership. These roles are our Chartered Organization Representative (COR), Pack Committee Chairperson, and Cubmaster (along with any Assistant Cubmasters).

Pack 513 is always seeking individuals who would like to get involved more in scouting, so if you are up to the task please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
